Local Agenda The Committee for the 1958-59 local League program is prepared to consider suggested items for study and action during the coming year. As a League member, what item of local interest would you like to study with a view to action in 1958-59? Suggested guide for selecting a local agenda item: Is this a problem to be solved by our City and County Government? (not Territorial) Will it give our members a good experience in citizen action? Have we resources and membership to carry through the problem? Does it seem possible to work through the problem to a successful conclusion? What is community attitude on this problem - what is its response likely to be? The 1956-57 agenda was: Achieving a new and adequate charter for the City-County of Honolulu. Continuing Responsibilities (CR's) Securing a new City-County jail which meets the standards of a modern correctional institution providing adequate security, segregation and rehabilitation. Replacement of the present Coroner's Office of the City and County of Honolulu with a medico-legal investigative system. You know how far along we are on the charter. A site has been selected for a city jail, but that is only the beginning. If the present charter proposal on the Coroner's Office remains in the charter and the charter is adopted, it will complete this item.
