Charter NewsTheir meetings with City-County Department heads and the Board of Supervisors completed the latter part of October, the Charter Commissioners presently are engaged in preparing their Fourth Draft of the Charter. This will be distributed to community organizations and will serve as the basis for public hearings scheduled for the first week in January. Dr. Daniel Tuttle, Assistant Professor of Government at the University of Hawaii and former research assistant for the Legislative Reference Bureau, will speak on the City Charter at the Monday, December 2 luncheon meeting of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association. Place: Armed Services YMCA Auditorium. League women are invited to attend. The Citizens Charter Committee is sponsoring a general meeting on December 10 to review proposals to the semi-final draft of the Charter. Announcement will be made later of the place of meeting. The League will devote its Wednesday, December 11 meeting to a membership discussion of the City Charter and proposals it has made at Commission and public bearings. To prepare for this discussion, members are to receive soon a digest of Charter proposals as compared with Honolulu's present form of government. This will give members an opportunity to voice their opinions. Please make a special
effort to attend.
