Visit of National Staff Member

Mrs. Newton L. Pierce, organization director of the League of Women Voters of the U.S., will be in Honolulu October 15, on her way to Japan for a vacation.

Even though this is her holiday Mrs. Pierce expressed the wish to meet old League friends, and a dessert party has been planned for 7:00 o'clock Tuesday evening, October 15, at the home of Ruth Loomis. All League members who know Mrs. Pierce are invited. Please call Miss Geraldine Milne at her office (50-2921) or at home (57-7661) by Monday night if you plan to attend.

Mrs. Pierce worked with the Honolulu League during July 1952 and was the principal speaker at the "launching party" for the pamphlet IN HONOLULU HALE THEY APPOINT. All presidents of the Honolulu League know her at least as a "pen pal", for she has been their personal representative in Washington D.C. All correspondence from our League to National goes to her.

Mrs. Pierce joined the staff of the League of Women Voters of the U.S. in February 1951, but her League activities date back to 1937. She is indeed our friend and has a deep and abiding love for Hawaii. We welcome her back.
