Citizens Charter CommitteeThe committee has set up offices in the basement of Iolani Palace and scheduled weekly meetings. The executive secretary, Mrs. George Jurgens, began her work on Monday, September 9, and by Wednesday it is hoped that the first newsletter will be ready. The committee emphasized that its function is one of educating the public on the principles of city government and the reasons for having a Charter Commission. It will not take a stand on specific charter proposals nor even advocate the adoption of the finished charter but will leave to its component organizations the duty of promoting or opposing the accomplishments of the Charter Commission. A meeting is planned for September 25 for representatives of all organizations participating in the Citizens Charter Committee and other interested persons to hear Mr. Charlton F. Chute, whose return to Honolulu is mentioned in another article in the Bulletin. Watch the newspapers for information as to place and time.
