Voters ServiceThe problem of vandalism in and around our public schools and how to cope with it is of vital interest to all citizens, whether or not they are parents of school age children. Recently, members of the Aina Haina PTA appeared before the Finance Committee of the Board of Supervisors to report practically continuous nightly destruction of property in the elementary school. Fathers of pupils in the school volunteered as night custodians. The Finance Committee decided to move a cottage onto the school grounds to provide residence for a permanent custodian. The Finance Committee also approved the hiring of fourteen more custodians throughout the city. The amount of money
needed, $4,500.00, was provided for in a supplementary ordinance and in part by the Department of Public Instruction.
