Voters Service ViewsKaneohe Area: At the request of the supervisors, Deputy City and County Attorney Daniel D. S. Moon advised that the Board can initiate an improvement district to provide fire protection facilities for residents of Kaneohe area. The present water is sufficient for domestic use but inadequate for fire protection. Residents of Kokokahi and Likelike Place can now look forward to adequate fire protection in the not too distant future. Kailua Area: The Kailua Business Groups Planning Committee, headed by Marshall Wright, appeared before the Public Works Committee to ask about the status of the one million dollar off-street parking and improvement program for Kailua business area. The City and County engineer explained that the delay was caused by the necessity for new appraisals of the land involved. He assured the Committee that the project would go on as originally planned. Judd Hillside: The Public Works Committee on July 27th approved a two-lot subdivision which would straddle the proposed road extension linking Manoa Road and Round Top Drive. J. R. Jerome and Richard Peacock, owners of the land, had requested the subdivision. The City Planning Commission had asked that the Board purchase the necessary land for the extension. Approval of the subdivision request instead of the purchase means that the City will have to pay for new improvements if it is ultimately decided to implement the master plan.
