News Briefs from CCCMFWOMEN OF THE AMERICAS: The Carrie Chapman Catt Memorial Fund, Inc. has come alive to many of us since Mrs. John Gillen's visit. Those of us who had the pleasure of meeting and hearing her were both charmed and interested in hearing about her survey trip to Brazil, Uruguay, Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala. The CCCMF says the following "Just as in the Far East women have emerged from purdah to become active citizens so the women of the Americas are beginning to leave the traditional custom of being only homebodies and more and more entering the larger community as citizens." EVERWIDENING HORIZONS: The Washington office of the CCCMF reports that it has had visitors interested in women's organizations from Argentina, Austria, Burma, Cambodia, Ceylon, Egypt, Formosa, Great Britain, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaya, Pakistan, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, Syria, Vietnam, many of them in their country's native dress.
This certainly gives us an idea of the scope of interest in women's organization activities and techniques.
