Calendar of Events United Nations Board Changes Jail Progress Java Club Membership Committee City Hall Doings Budget Report - September 20, 1955 |
United NationsThis month the League urges its members to attend the events planned for the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the United Nations. No regular membership meeting will be held. The AAUN dinner on October 24 (see Calendar) will feature a symposium on Achievements and Problems of the UN and a discussion of Issues in UN, especially the admission of communist China, the Moroccan crisis, and Charter Revision. Tickets for the dinner may be obtained from our National Resource Chairman, Item II, Mrs. Barbara Spaulding (32408), or from Dorothy Cooper at the YWCA (6001). We hope that you'll get to the dinner, but we understand that folks will be admitted after dinner to hear the speakers. Another fine program has been planned for a luncheon meeting of AAUN and Pacific and Asian Affairs Council on October 27 (see Calendar). Edward Shuck, Director of the Council, and Robert Stauffer, Professor of Government at the University of Hawaii, will debate the "Pros and Cons of American Relations with the U.N."
