Voters Service ViewsAfter listening to supporters and opponents of rent control at a public hearing on its extension, the Board of Supervisors decided to continue rent control, with some modifications, for another year. Oliver C. Soares, rent control director, will have to operate his department with a reduced budget of $35,000. This is the first budget slash made by the city administration under the new austerity program.
