Jail Committee

A tour of the city jail was taken on January 26 by Mr. Ballard Atherton, chairman of the legislative committee of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce, Police Chief Dan Liu, Mr. Dan Aoki of the Territorial Labor Department, Mr. James Daido of the Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Robert Cassiday, U.S. probation officer. Mrs. Marion Saunders and Mrs. Kate Kortschak accompanied the group. Each time we go chore, something more has fallen, blown down, or disappeared to the termites.... how long can such things go on We hope that by the time this reaches you the Board of supervisors will have made a favorable decision on the League's request to initiate a study of basic jail needs.
