Membership Dinner Meeting

At this meeting the League will join with the Business and Professional Women's Club on a topic of mutual interest, THE U.S. AND WORLD TRADE. The dinner will be held at the ELK'S CLUB, 2929 Kalakaua Avenue at 6:30 P.M., April 28. Come earlier for cocktails. Guests are welcome. Please call and make reservations by April 26 with ELIZABETH GORDON (90-7575, evenings only) or GRACE BARTLETT (56-690, days or 98-682, evenings). If you can't get to the dinner, plan to come for the ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION at 7:30 P.M.

You'll want to hear Elsie Ho and Jean Zane review why nations need to trade, Eleanor White describe how our present trade laws work and Hannah Alicata tell how these laws affect the sugar trade. Genevieve Feagin and Evelyn Elliott (of the League) show us what are some of the barriers to trade, and Geraldine Milne (of the League), Sadie Hunter, and Trudie Dow explain new proposals, such as the Randall report, for expanding world trade for the benefit of all. Mabel St. Pierre has prepared charts to illustrate the discussion. Don't miss this chance to exchange ideas with another active group interested in the world around us.
