Charter News All four charter bills - SB254, HB360, HB627, and HB1058 are presently in the House Judiciary Committee, of which Mr. Clarence Y. Shimamura is chairman. All members of the committee have been contacted personally and by letter. None seemingly opposed the idea of a new charter. Any suggestions which would aid in getting the bill reported favorably out of committee would be gratefully received. Again at the Membership Meeting a resume of the activities of the committee during the last month will be given. A former decision of the Executive Board not to support SB254 if any Department was excluded from a survey by the Charter Commission was reversed. At a special meeting the Board voted to support the Bill which now states that such study and analysis of the charter shall not curtail any of the powers, duties and responsibilities [of Bd. of Water Supply].
