The Role of th U.S. in the Middle EastMany League members have heard our speaker for the May 21 meeting. Each night when Hawaiian news has been made and when Europe, Washington and most of America has already gone to bed--Arthur Gaeth, former MBS and ABC correspondent and now KULA news chief--presents his Hawaiian News Periscope. It is an analysis of the top news stories of the day slanted toward the daily interests of the islanders. At our May meeting he will speak on THE ROLE OF THE U.S. IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Arthur Gaeth's presentations are those of a working newsman--not an armchair expert. He has an unusual background and an outstanding ability to report, or tell a story and analyze it. He has covered such events as the creation of the United Nations in San Francisco, the opening of the Czech Parliament, the Four Power and Paris Peace Conferences, the Michailovic Trials, the Arab-Jewish War and he has done reports from every state in the union and a large part of the world. The Honolulu League is indeed fortunate to have a person so well-qualified as the speaker for our
next meeting. A professional reporter and speaker, Mr. Gaeth will give us a broad picture of the problems involved in the Middle East.
