State of the League in the U.S.

From the most recent Memo to Local and State League Presidents:

"There are 39 recognized state Leagues. Mississippi has a state organization committee and is looking to a state League. Six more states (N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada) have provisional Leagues. Of these states Utah has the first recognized local League, Salt Lake City. Work is under way in Arkansas and Delaware and we expect provisional Leagues will be formed there in the near future. Hawaii and Alaska are carrying on in spite of the problems created by distance. On the whole, the state of the League is excellent. Splendid leadership is evident everywhere."

This Memo also announces that the proposed National Program and explanation will be printed in abbreviated form in the January issue of The National Voter. Please keep it for reference at the February membership meeting.
