The League and the U.N.Because we have a resourceful chairman of the National Resources Committee, plans for our October meeting did not collapse with the cancellation of our speaker's visit to Hawaii. Mrs. Betty St. John announces that Dr. Robert M. Kamins, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Hawaii will speak on "How the United Nations Fights Poverty." The economic health of the world and the United Nations relationship to economic functions and trade is an important subject on which League members need to be informed. Here is our opportunity. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF MEETING DATE TO THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25. IN ADDITION: Volunteers are needed at information desks to be set up in libraries and other places during United Nations Week, October 21-29. People will be asked to work in three hour shifts. Miss Florence Lioret at the University of Hawaii is in charge of this U.N. activity.
