Oct. 31 Meeting Features Mainland SpeakerSynagro company, which is installing a recycling facility at the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, will send a manager to speak at the October 31 meeting of the Planning & Transportation committee. All interested members are invited to hear Lorrie Linder, Synagros senior technical services manager, at the League office at 11 am. The City and County of Honolulu has contracted with Synagro to design, build, and operate a municipal biosolids recycling facility located at the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The facility will recycle island biosolids, which are currently being landfilled, into a commercial grade, Class A organic fertilizer product that will be marketed by Synagro. This new recycling plant will divert biosolids material from landfills, provide a locally manufactured high-quality fertilizer or renewable energy product, will help preserve the environment and will move Hawaii closer to its sustainability and recycling goals. Please call the office (531-7448) if you plan to attend so we can plan, but come anyway if you cant plan ahead. Pearl Johnson |
