President's Message

Aloha kakou. Thank you again for the opportunity to continue service to the League. The first Honolulu board meeting was lively with energetic discussions on areas of interest. That is to your benefit although I may not survive this board, ha ha. We have plans to continue League's observation of the City Council, planning & transportation, affordable shelter to the homeless, the myriad of social ills smothering our community and providing voter service. Our members have the energy to keep up the good fight for a healthy and vibrant Honolulu. But we need more involvement.

Member support can come in many different ways. Every offering is appreciated. Hands and minds are needed in every aspect of League work. Here are areas where we need help:

  • Attend hearings and meetings.
  • Write reports, write testimony for hearings and write letters.
  • File documents in the office files.
  • Produce the newsletter.
  • Address, fold and mail the newsletter.
  • Answer the telephone.

It takes many hands to get the job done. Lately the number of active members has dwindled. Only a few people are handling the majority of League tasks. We can use your help. Many of you may have time and skills that would greatly benefit the League and reduce the burden that the few active members currently carry. Volunteer time is flexible. Call me at 946-4936 if you can help in any way.
