Congratulations!
League member Ah Jook Ku was awarded the prestigious Fletcher-Knebel Award at the Honolulu Media Councils Annual Freedom of Information Day luncheon at the East-West Center on March 16. University of Hawaii President Evan Dobelle was the featured speaker. Ah Jook was the first Asian American reporter for the Associated Press during World War II, a job she moved to from the Star-Bulletin where she had been one of two Asian American reporters. Ah Jook continues, after 26 years, to hold the position of executive secretary for the Media Council. Congratulations Ah Jook.
