Help Needed: Vote CountLeague has agreed to conduct the Teamsters' year 2000 election of officers and trustees. This begins on Friday, Sept. 22 with the mailing of about 6,000 ballots from their Hart Street office, 8 am to 3 pm. This will require a minimum of 30 workers. Then we will need at least two volunteers in the office daily from Sept. 26 through Oct. 18 to accept calls from Teamster members for a second mailing of ballots and checking the eligibility of ballots mailed to our office. The weekday times are flexible from, 10 am to 4 pm. The tallying of ballots takes place Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Teamsters office, 1817 Hart St., from 8 am until completion - maybe 4 pm. At least 30 people are needed for various tasks. The ballot is complicated and long, so be prepared for more work and caution than in the past. Also, this election is as controversial as that of Local 5. For those of you who experienced the Local 5 election, we need not go into additional detail. Hart Street is located in the industrial area of Kalihi. It is parallel to Nimitz Hwy between Kalihi St and Mokauea St, mauka of Nimitz. Call to volunteer!
